India’s wrestling pride and lovable giant Dara Singh Ji passes away

Veteran actor and India’s wrestling pride, Dara Singh ji (Deedar Singh Randhawa), at 84 years of age, passes away this morning at around 7.30 am due to cardiac arrest.Dara Singh ji had been keeping ill for a prolonged period of time and was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on July 7th. There he underwent dialysis and was kept under ventilation, but his health deteriorated with each passing moment.The family shifted him back to their residence yesterday evening, on his wish to breathe his last breath at home in presence of his family members.Dr Agarwal, Dara ji’s personal physician said, “Yesterday, we brought him from hospital to home…his wish was that he be at his home between his family. He passed away at 7.30 am due to cardio-respiratory arrest, he had suffered paralysis a few years back, and he also had a very rare brain disease.”This Jat from Punjab, was the undisputed champion of champions and has won many titles including the world championship in 1968. His portrayal of Hanuman in popular TV series ‘Ramayan’ is what he would always be remembered for. Dara Ji was the Indian superhero and has done films for which he would always be cherished. He was last seen in “Jab We Met” in as Kareena Kapoor’s grandfather.The last rituals of his death would be performed at 2pm today at Vile Parle.His death news was confirmed by his son, Vindu Dara Singh.Dara Singh ji was Rustam-E-Punjab in 1966 and Rustam-E-Hind in 1978 and on the International Front he was the winner of Canadian Open Tag Team Champion with Yukon Eric. He has won many wrestling titles and had always made India proud.
